Ricotta Pistachio Honey Toast with Citrus Zest
Ingredients
4 slices of your favorite artisan bread (such as sourdough or multigrain)
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 cup shelled pistachios, roughly chopped
Honey, for drizzling
Zest of 1 orange
Zest of 1 lemon
Pinch of ground cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt (optional)
Instructions
Toast the Bread: Toast the slices of bread until golden brown and crispy to your liking.
Prepare the Ricotta Mixture: In a small mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with the zest of the orange and lemon. Mix well until the citrus zest is evenly distributed throughout the ricotta.
Spread the Ricotta Mixture: Once the bread is toasted, spread a generous layer of the citrus-infused ricotta cheese onto each slice.
Top with Pistachios: Sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the ricotta layer, ensuring they are evenly distributed across the toast.
Drizzle with Honey: Drizzle honey over the pistachios and ricotta. Be generous but adjust according to your sweetness preference.
Season with Cinnamon and Salt: Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon over each toast for warmth and depth of flavor. If desired, add a pinch of sea salt for a contrast to the sweetness.
Garnish and Serve: Garnish the toast with a few additional shreds of citrus zest for a vibrant pop of color and flavor. Serve immediately while the toast is still warm and the ricotta is creamy.
